Transforming Ophthalmology: OpenEyes : Bolton FT

In 2017, Ophthalmology at Bolton Foundation Trust decided to invest in the OpenEyes EPR. The OpenEyes system goes beyond digital records, to include device integration, FP10 prescriptions, surgical outcome reporting, graphical tools, virtual clinics and a surgical whiteboard. Mr David Haider, Consultant Ophthalmologist was the key driver. He engaged with the supplier and worked with others Trusts to strengthen the solution for wider deployment. He also involved a range of internal staff - Doctors, Nurses, AHPs, IT Leads and admin staff. The system has improved quality and transformed how patient care is delivered.
