Sustaining primary care through digital transformation during COVID in Kent and Medway : NHS Kent and Medway CCG on behalf of Kent and Medway System

In March 2020, Covid-19 brought unprecedented challenges that threatened the ability of primary care to deliver on expectations in one of the largest health and care systems in south east England – Kent and Medway. The Kent and Medway system came together to create and deliver a system-based strategy capable of:

  • sustaining primary care through digital platforms;
  • improving clinical communications, and;
  • introducing remote monitoring for patients.

The switch to digital impacted on over 1.8 million patients in Kent and Medway, requiring the Digital First System Programme Board to coordinate digital transformation with primary care across 205 practices.
