There are huge workforce challenges in Paediatrics. We are pioneering the role of Physician Associates in Paediatrics and have employed 14 Physician Associates broaden the skill mix in teams, bring new talent, and offer quality of care, improved patient experience and all at a reduced cost when compared to specialty doctors and consultants. We have developed a programme to train physician associates to deliver clinical care and to undertake quality and service improvement projects whilst providing a high level of educational and pastoral support to nurture and retain a long term paediatric workforce for children and their families.
