Use of IBDoc to provide seamless IBD service during Covid pandemic and wider adoption post-covid : Mid and South Essex FT
The announcement of the Covid-19 shielding strategy brought an urgent need to devise a pathway empowering patients to self-manage and monitor long-term conditions from home. Those with inflammatory bowel disease were one priority group highlighted within the 1.2 million population of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSE) as in need of a swift solution. IBDoc® is an app-based system enabling patients to test their own faecal calprotectin levels remotely, reducing the risk of unnecessary hospital visits. Immediate transmission of results to the clinical team facilitates rapid personalised treatment decisions and has increased engagement from both patients and staff.
