Respiratory Care Initiative of the Year

Care Home Initiative : North East London FT

At the beginning of the pandemic staff from the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service and COPD team were redeployed, during redeployment the government guidelines around ring fencing the care homes during the pandemic came about. We felt we were well placed to support the care homes in delivering respiratory care due to our specific skill sets. The initiative was made up of four members of staff, Specialist Respiratory Nurse, Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist and two Pulmonary Rehabilitation Assistants. The initial idea was to support the care home residents within our commissioned area with respiratory disease but also the staff who provide their care.
